An Alternative Anode to Lithium Metal Anode.

The Problem: 

By nature, lithium-ion batteries are dangerous, although they are commonly used as anodes. Also, in spite of its high energy density, it is highly unstable. 

Due to the fact that lithium constitutes only about 0.002 percent of Earth’s crust, the battery market is experiencing its scarcity is becoming increasingly scarce due to high demand; the market is therefore expected to experience price increases. 

Finally, it is reported that after 24 hours the battery life is reduced by 2-3 % when used as an anode for batteries, reducing the battery life significantly.

Experimental results demonstrate that the volumetric energy density (2000mAh/cm3) and the gravimetric energy density of over (1000mAh/g) of this new binder-free iron oxide electrode is 3 times that of graphite anode and similar order of magnitude to that of lithium metal anode.
